Open Source Component Reviews

  • Apache Cocoon - Cocoon is the most powerful XML-based web application framework we could find for Mindquarry. It allows us to access data from data sources as diverse as Java Content Repository, Subversion Repositories, Java Components, to process it using a powerful pipelining mechanism that allows for performance-enhanced caching and publishing in diverse formats like HTML, XHTML fragments for AJAX, JSON, XML for REST APIs, PDF and iCalendar.
  • Apache Jackrabbit - Apache Jackrabbit is the reference implementation for JSR-170 (Java Content Repository) and provides us with a scalable, high-performance backend that can be customized to support specific databases or query formats and stores folders, files and structured content as well. Mindquarry extended Jackrabbit to work as a native XML database with full XPath 1.0 support.
  • Subversion - Subversion is the state of the art in version control for software developers. Mindquarry implements an easy-to-use Subversion web interface that features built-in web-based Subversion administration and n easy-to-use desktop client for file synchronization based on subversion. Using Subversion's Java API this this work becomes easy.
  • Dojo - Dojo is the most advanced AJAX and Javascript toolkit in the world. It supports widget creation, extends the Javascript language and provides server communication and local storage via various mechanisms like XMLHttpRequest, JSON and others. Mindquarry uses Dojo to provide a rich user expierence on the web interface.
  • Spring - Spring is a inversion of control container that makes component-oriented development of Java applications easy.
  • Apache Webserver - The Apache Web Server is the most widely distributed web server on the internet and its power makes it the ideal fit to combine the Mindquarry Web Application, served by Apache Cocoon and Jetty and the Subversion WebDAV implementation.
