A whiteboard is a shared collaborative drawing area that can be used for whiteboarding, brainstorming and mind mapping.  Whiteboards originated as physical, wall-mounted whiteboards but have found software-implemented equivalents that are often found as web-based applications, as additions to instant messaging clients or in web conferencing software.
